Font - She's a great Dane, very friendly and gentle, and very very old. She can barely walk anymore from arthritis. Whereas she's always up till this point been confined in their backyard, recently she's been wandering the street. To the best of her ability anyway, it's more like a sad shuffle in between resting places. We tried taking her back a few times, I think 4 or 5, each time they claim she "escaped", put her in the backyard and then like clockwork next morning she's out front again beggi

Font - Well recently my mom kind of said enough was enough and let the dog in the house, gave her food and a comfy bed and she just seems well, entirely content. This dog is not an escape artist dog. She follows us around day and night, wont go more than foot away from us even in the yard. This dog absolutely did not dig its way under a fence AND break her chain like they keep claiming. There's just no way with how she moves. It's been 3 days, the neighbors have SEEN her in our yard, but have no

Font - Edit because so many people are suggesting it: we will be asking them to relinquish ownership, she has a vet appointment booked soon and if at all possible we will for sure be keeping her. Thank you all for the advice, it may seem dumb but it honestly did not occur to me to get them to sign a form about it also here's a picture of her in her favorite sleep spot

Font - DVIGRVT 9 days ago She been with you 3 days and they know you have her but they haven't approached you about it? Wow. Keep the dog, let them know you're happy to care for her and see what they say. Be up front with the neighbors. The last thing you need is police coming to your house accusing you of stealing their dog. ↑ 1.0k Reply Share

Font - Cynical Feline - 8 days ago . The fact they've seen and haven't said a word, speaks volumes. If they truly cared, they'd be all over OP like a bat out of hell to get their baby back. I strongly suspect that the previous owners were hoping she would get hit to get her out of their hair.

Font - EndlessMeghan . 8 days ago I'm not expert, but we adopted our rescue from a guy who wasn't taking care of her and she'd escaped the yard several times in one day and found my partner every time. When offered money for her, he said "you can just have her." She came with nothing but a choke collar. When I took her to the vet, I explained the situation - the guy said "just have her", this plus the obvious signs of neglect were enough that I had no problem. Even if there is some issue, the ve

Font - Popeye71178 days ago Keep her. This is how I ended up with my fourth rescue. My next door neighbors never let him in the house, and he constantly wandered the neighborhood to about 1/4 mile away. The final straw was them forcing him to ride out a hurricane OUTSIDE. One day he moved into my front yard and stayed, so after a couple weeks of introductions to my existing three dogs, I let him in. He's a very happy old man now.

Font - NeonWarcry - 8 days ago Keep her. She deserves comfort and love as well as ac/water etc. a Dane is not a dog for the outdoors besides a leisurely walk. Sweet old girl.
